Both NASA and JAXA missions have recently arrived at the carbonaceous asteroids (101955) Bennu and (162173) Ruygu, respectively. Their goal is to study the nature and property of the organic matter from the Early Solar System, thus helping us unveiling the building blocks for life on Earth. Both missions are also equipped to undertake major engineering breakthroughs: Hayabusa 2 has released several landers to surface, made a crater on Ryugu and finally collected a sample at July 11th; OSIRIS-Rex is the first to remain at smallest close orbit around an asteroid and will try next year to obtain a sample from Bennu. Latest results from remote sensing techniques will be highlighted and their implications discussed.
