Highlights: [•] We tried to establish the link between nickel mobility and its suspended/colloidal bearing phases in natural waters from ultramafic systems. [•] We performed Ni isotopic exchange kinetic on natural surface waters. [•] We studied the properties and Ni speciation in suspended particulate matter (SPM) from a geochemical and mineralogical point of view. [•] We demonstrated that metallurgical activity has a significant impact on Ni availability (both total amount and kinetics) in ultramafic systems.
