On 7 January, IPGP researcher François Beauducel was appointed Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Prime Minister.

François Beauducel, a physicist specialising in the study of volcanic edifices, is currently on secondment to the IRD and hosted at the Agency for Research and Technological Development in Geological Disasters (BPPTKG) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

This appointment “rewards an exemplary career as a geophysicist at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris and the research activities carried out both in France and abroad. It also honours his work in Indonesia as an active member of the volcanology research community, helping to strengthen Franco-Indonesian relations”.
