From 2016, Ninto is junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
In 2018 he became associate editor in Advances in Space Research (Elsevier).
Research Interest: Thanks to technological advances in the last decade, ionosphere becomes a sensitive medium to various geophysical phenomena as earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic explosions, revealing new possibilities to estimate the uplift at the source (by GNSS-TEC in 8min) and the offshore oceanic displacement (by GNSS-TEC and airglow cameras after 40min), both key measurements to improve the estimation of the tsunami risk, and the confirmation of the tsunami amplitude during its propagation off-shore. Ionospheric observation are also able today to estimate the magnitude of the seismic event (by Doppler sounders and OTH radar) and the volcanic explosive indec (by GNSS-TEC). Ninto’s research contributes with innovative observational techniques by ionospheric sounding and numerical modeling to explore the physics and the understanding of the ionospheric signature of earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic explosion, and to push forward the monitoring of natural hazards and mainly to support the evolution of tsunami warning systems, and the subsequent mitigation of damages and loss of lives.
Close to the Ionospheric Seismology, Ninto also explores new methodology for 3D ionospheric tomography (by OTH radars and GNSS) in order to improve the knowledge of the ionospheric background, and he recently explores the signature of solar eclispes in the ionosphere and more related to space weather quesions.

Miscellaneous: Ninto plays a role in science divulgation as a weekly reporter in the science radio-shows Un Jour Tout Neuf (France Inter, 2010-11), La Tête au Carré (France Inter, 2012-13), Le Futur c’est Maintenant (NOVA, 2015-16), as well as Recherche En Cours (Radio Aligre, 2008-9), and today in the web-magazine Post-Ap Mag. Ninto also contributes to public events connected to science and he develops many art-projects at the frontier between Art & Science (e.g., 40th anniversary of the Moon landing, Sumatra Tsunami Commemoration, Artic Rhythms, Sudoku, ... ), including at the elementary school to explore new pedagogic approaches (e.g., Seisme93)
