ASCII (text) files
PaleoMac can open ASCII files, containing any kind of {Declination / Inclination}, or {Latitude / Longitude} data, with or without other parameters, which can be processed with the same graphs and computations as for DIR data.

When you open an ASCII file, a "formatting box" appears, allowing you to define the sequence of data in the file. When you have determined this sequence, the file is opened, and data are displayed in the DIR window (contrary to the case of binary DIR files, you cannot choose the lines to edit, but all the data from the ASCII file are edited in memory).

A recent problem appeared in opening ASCII files under Mac OSX (the file does not appear as "clickable" in the opening box). Click here to have a description and solutions... (added February 17, 2005).
