Demystifying Artificial Intelligence: An Introduction to Deep Learning and Neural Networks

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of our lives in recent years even without we recognizing it. One of the most exciting areas of AI and also of intense research is deep learning where a machine learns patterns by itself without being explicitly programmed. At the core of deep learning is the neural network, a computational model inspired by the human brain. This talk provides an introduction to deep learning and neural networks in an interactive way along with a live demo of the fundamental ideas in deep learning. We will also explore some of the challenges and limitations of deep learning and how it is transforming the world from healthcare to politics and even art. It is necessary that more people understand this technology to see what it can and cannot do and participate in a global discussion on how we want to regulate it before the technology starts controlling us.
