This is a weekly, one-hour session of information/reflection on seismic, tectonic and volcanic activity worldwide. It is based on a model already tested in other foreign universities including Berkeley.
It is made of three parts:
1) A summary of the seismic activity in the previous week (based on the information available on the web)
2) "Geonews Talk": a more detailed discussion of a recent earthquake, volcanic crisis or any interesting geophysical event for which information is readily available.
3a) The presentation of a short article published in the recent peer-reviewed literature on seismogenesis, volcanism or tectonics.
OR
3b) An introductory presentation on the ongoing research of the speaker.
This week -- exceptionally at 14.00 -- William Frank will talk about seismic noise generated by... humans. Then, Lucia Gualtieri will explain us how to model seismic noise by normal mode summation.
