IPGP

This is a weekly, one-hour session of information/reflection on seismic, tectonic and volcanic activity worldwide. It is based on a model already tested in other foreign universities including Berkeley. It is made of three parts: 1) A summary of the seismic activity in the previous week (based on the information available on the web) 2) "Geonews Talk": a more detailed discussion of a recent earthquake, volcanic crisis or any interesting geophysical event for which information is readily available. 3a) The presentation of a short article published in the recent peer-reviewed literature on seismogenesis, volcanism or tectonics. OR 3b) An introductory presentation on the ongoing research of the speaker. This week, Pascal Bernard will talk about the recent earthquake in Italy. Then, Maxime Farin will describe the features of a pyroclastic flow which occured three months ago at Montserrat.
