GeoNews of the Week

This is a weekly, one-hour session of information/reflection on seismic, tectonic and volcanic activity worldwide. It is based on a model already tested in other foreign universities including Berkeley.

It is made of three parts:

1) A summary of the seismic activity in the previous week (based on the information available on the web)

2) Geonews Talk: a more detailed discussion of a recent earthquake, volcanic crisis or any interesting geophysical event for which information is readily available.

3a) The presentation of a short article published in the recent peer-reviewed literature on seismogenesis, volcanism or tectonics.

OR

3b) An introductory presentation on the ongoing research of the speaker.

This week, Eleonore Stutzmann will present the GEOSCOPE network using the screens in the coffee room on the 3rd floor. Then, Aurelien Mordret will present his work on ambient noise tomography at the exploration geophysics scale.
