Source and receiver ghost reflections from the underside of the dynamic sea-surface degrade marine seismic data in many ways; compromising bandwidth, wavelet length, low frequency content and repeatability.
Marine ghosts and their impact on seismic data will be described. Two approaches for improving marine seismic data will be illustrated: (1) Single Streamer Deghosting and (2) low frequency enhancement of towed streamer marine seismic data.
An inversion of low frequency rich marine seismic data will show that porosity can be estimated from seismic data alone, without constraint from well log data.
