A correct velocity model is essential to image the structure of the Earth from seismic data. Migration Velocity Analysis (MVA) is based on the principle that for a correct velocity model, partial migrated images should be consistent. Recent developments have led to more robust approaches and to the possibility to extend MVA beyond reflected waves.
