For the 30th year since its creation, the CDD will be held again at the IPGP from 11 to 14 April 2023 on the theme "Scientific methods as a bridge between disciplines".

Since 1993, the PhD candidates of the STEP’UP doctoral school have been organising the “Congrès des doctorants” every year, bringing together members of:
- the Institut de physique du globe de Paris (IPGP)
- the Astrophysics, Instrumentation and Modelling department (AIM) of the CEA
- the AstroParticle and Cosmology laboratory (APC)
- the École Normale Supérieure (ENS)
- the Laboratory of Nuclear Physics and High Energy (LPNHE)
- the Laboratory of Theoretical and High Energy Physics (LPTHE)
Many international PhD candidates are also invited each year.
By associating the two components of the doctoral school, “Earth and Environment” and “Physics of the Universe”, this exceptional congress allows the public to travel from the depths of the oceans to the farthest corners of the universe.
Through oral presentations and poster sessions, the students exchange their research work and create links between themselves and with researchers, professionals and specialists in their field.
“Scientific methods as a bridge between disciplines”
The theme of this year’s event will lead participants to use scientific methods as a framework to initiate discussions and bridge the gap between the physics of the universe and the Earth sciences. Presentations by PhD candidates will be spread throughout the week to illustrate this link, complemented by lectures by experienced researchers who have built their careers on multidisciplinary foundations.
