Brief introduction: My thesis combines geodynamic numerical modeling with Ocean Bottom Seismometer refraction data modeling to investigate the crustal structure and continental rifting processes of the South China Sea wide-rift system. In particular, it examines how thermal, compositional, and structural inheritance from earlier orogenic events influenced the development of hyperextended basins, crustal-scale detachments, and the continent–ocean transition.
