Lei Geng, professor at the University of Science and Technology of China and a specialist in stable isotope geochemistry and atmospheric chemistry. Lei’s research combines isotope measurements, ice-core records, and atmospheric chemistry models to investigate atmospheric oxidation and its connections to climate. His seminar will explore how oxygen isotope anomalies reveal oxidation mechanisms in the modern atmosphere and help reconstruct past changes in atmospheric oxidation capacity. He will also briefly discuss how sulfur isotope anomalies can constrain atmospheric redox conditions on early Earth and Mars.
