The planets of the Solar System present particularly varied compositions and structures, the origins of which are still widely debated. The study of the primordial processes is essential to understand how they controlled the formation dynamics, composition and evolution of these planets, but also the prebiotic chemistry and the environmental conditions relating to the development of the first living organisms on Earth, and even on other planets and exoplanets. The IPGP is one of the few institutions where scientists from multiple fields of research such as geology, geochemistry, cosmochemistry, geophysics, geobiology and astrophysics can work together to decipher these fundamental questions.
