Two Ph.D. students honored at international conferences
Two doctoral students from the Planetology and Space Sciences team were recently recognized for their research at two international conferences.

Research
Ines OUAR received the Best Student Poster Award at the 2026 Asia Ocean Geosciences Society (AOGS) conference for her poster presentation titled “Near Real-Time Detection and Localization of Earthquakes from the Ionosphere.” Her study explores, in particular, how disturbances generated by earthquakes within the ionosphere can be automatically detected using GNSS observations and then used to obtain an accurate estimate of the source’s location.
Lorraine DELAROQUE received the Outstanding Student Presentation Award at the 2026 Japan Geoscience Union–American Geophysical Union (JpGU–AGU) joint meeting for her oral presentation titled “Seismic Detectability of Tidal Icequakes on Titan in Preparation for Dragonfly.”
Her research aims to assess under what conditions the periodic deformations induced by Saturn’s tides can generate seismic signals detectable by the instrumentation on board Dragonfly, and to what extent these events could be used to characterize Titan’s internal structure.
These two awards highlight the quality of the research conducted by young female researchers at the IPGP and their contribution to international scientific exchange in the fields of geosciences and space sciences.
